The wines are crafted for complexity and intensity of flavor and aromatics in five styles: Colette, the most fruit focused of the three red wines, from 100% destemmed fermentations; Ariane, a lighter style red wine with savory notes, 100% whole cluster; Marie-Paule, a blend of two red Pinots for added depth and character; Nicolette, a white wine from Pinot Noir; and Marie, a rose’ of Pinot Noir.
The vineyard is dry farmed, and no herbicides or synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are used.
Overlooking southern Oregon’s Umpqua Valley nearly a thousand feet below, Whitetail Ridge Vineyard is poised to take full advantage of the strong summer sun that warms the mineral-rich mountain soil throughout the day. In the evening, fresh breezes from the nearby Coastal range gently cool the fruit, allowing it to mature more slowly while it develops the distinct flavors and complex aromatics so highly prized from high elevation sites. We’re sure you will enjoy our “Wines of Elevation”.
Jim Bernau’s vision of organizing wine enthusiasts to help build a world class winery in Oregon has, over time, resulted in Willamette Valley Vineyards being named “One of America’s Great Pinot Noir Producers” by Wine Enthusiast.
Our approach is to grow, by hand, the highest quality fruit using careful canopy management and yield balance, to achieve wines that are truly expressive of the varietal and the place where they are grown. We ferment and barrel each vineyard lot separately and display the best of these in our single vineyard designate bottlings. The wines are truly a collaborative effort of the entire vineyard and wine making staff.
